Paper Project from Costume Design III, Fall 2024

Carrie

In my third year at NYU Tisch, I was assigned to choose and design an adaptation of the fairy tale Cinderella. As an avid lover of horror films, I chose Stephen King's Carrie. 

“But hardly anybody ever finds out that their actions really, actually, hurt other people! People don’t get better, they just get smarter. When you get smarter you don’t stop pulling the wings off flies, you just think of better reasons for doing it.”

Story Sequencing

Carrie's House

Carrie gets her first period in the school showers. 

Carrie's abusive mother locks her in a closet.

Invited to prom by a popular boy, Carrie makes her own prom dress. 

Prom Night

Carrie is comforted by Sue in her final moments, having destroyed the town with her telekinetic abilities.
